a poem about listening



i know i had fun talking
but did you listen?
as i scribbled and gibbered and got animated
imparting the start of a chart of a startling truth
i may only have been knowledge not wisdom
but did you listen
you were there and you stared did you care or was your nodding
just humouring, or mental runimation
is there any point in persisting
did you listen
